Steam train

We are a non-profit association that operates steam train traffic during the summer on Fridays and Saturdays in July and early August, with departures from Arvidsjaur in inland Norrland to Slagnäs, round trip 50 km one way. We are a group passionate about maintaining and operating steam trains, as well as preserving them and, above all, the knowledge for the future. The steam train journey takes you through genuine northern Swedish forest environments with mountains and valleys, marshlands, lakes, and ponds, with memories from the construction of the inland railway, including old navvy barracks. In Slagnäs, while we lubricate the locomotive, there is an opportunity to climb aboard and look around and talk to the driver/fireman. On the way home from Slagnäs, we stop at the beautiful sandy beach at Lake Storavan. There we offer sausages to grill and swimming for those who wish, along with open views with mountains and beautiful sunsets reflected in the lake’s clear water. A magical journey that should not be missed if we may say so ourselves.
